Write it Down

I was struck by the passing of Zig Ziglar.  I never met the man and yet I felt like I knew him.  I remember the first time I heard him speak and the first time I read his books.  It was very clear what he wanted in life.  He wanted to help people succeed.  He believed in people.  How do I know this?  He wrote down what he believed.  He wrote down his vision, thoughts, ideas, plans, and examples.  Now he’s gone but his vision, thoughts, ideas, plans and examples live on.

What is your vision?  What thoughts do you have? Do you have any examples in life that might help others? I believe we all have vision, thoughts, ideas, and life examples that would be of benefit if they were simply shared.  One of my favorite passages in the Bible is in a book called Habakkuk (Habakkuk 2:1).  We are instructed to write down what we see, clear and plain enough so that any one can run with it.

Zig Ziglar Quotes

“People often say motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing—that’s why we recommend it daily.”

“If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”

“Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.”

“You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want.”

“If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.”

Reading these quotes not only inspires me but they also give me insight into the vision of the man.

3 levels of writing to establish your vision

Journal

Take time each day to write down your thoughts and experiences.  Journaling creates discipline and discipline is required to accomplish vision.

Record

Record the events of the day.  Write down notes of each meeting, thoughts from friends and colleagues.  Each day offers new insight into the progress of your vision.  You will be able to tell if your vision is being achieved or if you are being ineffective simply by recording your day.

Share

Share your vision with those around you.  Remember to share it simply so they can repeat it.  This is why I blog, tweet, Facebook, write.  I have a vision and I want people to be affected by it.  Figure out a way to share your vision and share it.
