6 Thoughts to more confident decisions
Sep 28, 2021What if it was inevitable you would make good decisions? How would it feel if every action you took was exactly the right thing at the right time? If this sounds too good to be true, then you're probably not comfortable with the idea of unwavering self-belief as you would like to be.
Consider this, the things we tell ourselves dictate our actions. The idea of the right thoughts leading to more confident action makes a lot of sense. The Bible says, "as a man thinks so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7Consider, for example, the power behind changing your thinking with these simple techniques:
“I know the Past”
Sometimes all we need is a healthy reminder of all we've already accomplished. Logically speaking, the very fact that we have done the right things in the past indicates we will do so again in the future.
“I Know What’s at Stake”
It's easy to put way too much importance on the next decision or action. Try taking a step back to look at the big picture. Will this decision matter tomorrow, next week, or next year? If not, relax and make the best decision you can under the circumstances. It’s sure to be good enough.
“I am Going to Try My Best”
When we lack an unwavering belief in our actions, we tend to become unable to decide at all. Avoid allowing yourself to become trapped in a world of procrastination and indecision by giving yourself permission to take any action at all and see where it takes you. If you don’t like the outcome, try something else.
“I Will Keep Going”
You only need to figure out the next decision. The important thing here is to keep going. Trust your instincts and take the best action you can.
“I Don’t Care If I Fail”
Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we crash and burn. While it's not always fun to make mistakes, it's also not the end of the world. Carefully consider what you can learn from the experience to apply those lessons to your next attempt.
"I Can Trust Myself"
Most of the time, we already know the best decision we can make, whether we realize it or not. There comes a time when you need to 'go with your gut' and trust yourself to do the right thing. What's important here is making this a conscious decision on your part.
These thoughts might not seem very powerful alone, but they'll work to build confidence and create an unwavering self-belief over time. In no time at all, taking the best course of action won't be just a pleasant occasional outcome. It'll be inevitable.
